Lk 13:18-21
18[Jesus] said, “What is the kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it? 19It is like a mustard seed that a person took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and ‘the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.’ ”
20Again he said, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God? 21It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed [in] with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch of dough was leavened.”
Reflection:
The kingdom of God… is like a mustard seed. A man dreams he is given a tour of heaven. Up there he sees an abundance of peace, joy, happy relationships, kindness, and helpfulness. After his tour, he asks the Lord if he can bring back home some peace and joy since these are very much in need in his forsaken country. “Oh,” the Lord answers, “I am sorry, I do not give away fruits. I give only seeds. I will give you the seeds, but you have to plant them and care for them to grow!”
The Lord has planted many seeds in our lives. They are waiting for our small steps to cultivate and nurture them into big realities for all. Our persons are the basic seeds God has planted for his kingdom here on earth.
Plant some seedlings with your family today and teach your kids how to care for them.
