Grace and Space

Forgiveness of ourselves and others: The story has no ending. We do not know whether the elder brother will go into the house to join in the celebration, or whether he will nurse his self-righteousness outside. There is no ending because it is not just a story: it is a challenge—to each one of us. If you are the prodigal son, will you come back? If you are the elder son, will you come in or stay outside? Can you follow the example of the loving forgiveness of the father?
