Lk 24:13-35
Life out of death: The two disciples speak of Jesus as belonging to the past. Soon Jesus has their full attention as he assures them that nothing has gone wrong; rather, the truth is that they have been unable to see the saving hand of God in Jesus’ sufferings and death.
In Jesus, God reveals himself unceasingly as the One whose characteristic work is to bring life out of death. In particular, Jesus shows the fulfillment of what Scriptures have foretold about the Messiah: he will suffer, he will rise again, and repentance will be preached to the whole world in his name.
