Jn 16:29-33
[Jesus’] disciples said, “Now you are talking plainly, and not in any figure of speech. 30Now we realize that you know everything and that you do not need to have anyone question you. Because of this we believe that you came from God.” 31Jesus answered them, “Do you believe now? 32Behold, the hour is coming and has arrived when each of you will be scattered to his own home and you will leave me alone. But I am not alone, because the Father is with me. 33I have told you this so that you might have peace in me. In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.”

Now you are talking plainly. I love Jesus. He always has a positive and healthy attitude. He has a reassuring confidence: “Take courage, I have conquered the world.” And he is talking plainly. When rules and orders are plain and simple, the demands are distinct, and the conditions are clear-cut, it is easier to work and produce the desired results.

Some parents can be so vague and inconsistent that the children are bewildered. Bosses can be so absurd and indirect that they leave subordinates confused. Instructions are so many that we get lost. Our desires and intentions are so varied and contradictory that perhaps even God may be confused about our prayers. We are so complicated that other people find it hard to live with us.

Make your language plain, your life simple, your expectations basic, your prayers honest, and your intentions pure. You will conquer the world, like Jesus!
